STRATEGIC MEETING WITH THE DRC AMBASSADOR ACCREDITED TO THE USA AS A PRELUDE TO THE MEETING ON THE RENEWAL OF AGOA NEXT JULY IN WASHINGTON
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya will represent the Democratic Republic of Congo next July in Washington in the United States of America at the major meeting on the renewal of AGOA; a U.S. law that allows eligible sub-Saharan African countries to export most of their products to the United States without customs duties and without obligation of reciprocity.
Information delivered this Thursday in Kinshasa to the Minister by Marie -Hélène Mathey Boo Lowumba, Ambassador of the DRC accredited to the United States of America.
During this session of the renewal of AGOA which starts on July 21, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya will present on the policy of promoting industrialization and exports in the Democratic Republic of Congo; a showcase for him to seduce Americans to be more interested in Congolese products including strategic minerals and agri-food products that the DRC wants to export to the United States of America.
B2Bs with American businessmen will also be there during this session which will be co-chaired by the DRC
Note that the need to renew AGOA before its expiration in 2025 was decided at the meeting between the Government and the Congress of the United States of America, African Foreign Trade Ministers, representatives of African businesses, trade unionists and members of civil society which was held last week in Johannesburg, South Africa.
