CLOSING OF THE DRC WEEK AT THE UNIVERSAL EXPO OSAKA / JAPAN: NATIONAL DAY OF THE DRC [CELEBRATION OF THE 65TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE DRC]
The 65th anniversary of the accession of the Democratic Republic of Congo to its national and international sovereignty was celebrated this Monday, June 30, 2025 in Japan on the sidelines of the Universal Expo 2025 Osaka under the presidency of the Prime Minister, Judith Suminwa in the presence of some members of her Government including that of Foreign Trade, Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises, Communication and Media, Culture, Arts and Heritage but also representatives of public companies and Japanese officials.
In front of the guests including Japanese and Congolese economic operators, the Head of Government made it clear that the presence of the DRC at Universal Expo 2025 Osaka is part of the consolidation of economic, commercial, technological and cultural exchanges between the DRC and Japan, with the aim of strengthening the construction of SOFT POWER in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a solution country which is full of enormous opportunities, she insisted.
Judith Suminwa took advantage of this platform to once again welcome the signing of the historic agreement between the DRC and Rwanda which gives hope for the return of lasting peace to the east of the country, the victim of armed violence and massacres for more than 3 decades.
On behalf of the Japanese Government, Takashina Jun, Deputy Commissioner General of Universal Expo 2025 Osaka welcomed the strengthening of economic and commercial cooperation between Tokyo and Kinshasa while reassuring Prime Minister Judith Suminwa and the members of her Government who are part of her delegation that the DRC will benefit from Japan's technological expertise for its development.
Speaking to the press, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku was delighted with the success of the week dedicated to the DRC at this major business meeting which brings together more than 170 countries
Note that this
National day was enhanced by the national ballet from Kinshasa, eagle vision Tokyo and Fatiki Junio from Belgium; groups who performed and sang together with the Japanese the Congolese rumba listed in the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO, and this, to the great satisfaction of the Japanese and representatives of other countries who adore Congolese culture.
