Increase in trade between the DRC and Brazil, experts from these two countries are consolidating technical work on updating the bilateral trade agreement signed in 1970, an agreement which will now integrate investment facilitation mechanisms with the sharing of experience between the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments -
APEX, the National Agency for the Promotion of Exports-
ANAPEX and the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments-
ANAPI.
The evaluation of this technical work which precedes the signing of this updated bilateral trade agreement which will take place on the sidelines of the COP30 in Belém in Brazil was at the center of a technical meeting this Monday, September 8, 2025 in Kinshasa between the Minister of Foreign Trade Julien Paluku Kahongya surrounded by experts from his Ministry and the Brazilian Ambassador accredited to the DRC, Roberto Parente.
An economic and commercial mission from Brazil is expected in Kinshasa before that of the DRC in Brasilia, and this, before the signing of this updated bilateral trade agreement which will precede that of the South American Free Trade Area-MERCOSUR which brings together Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia
Note that during this meeting, these two personalities discussed the possibility of opening the direct commercial line Kinshasa-Brasilia with Brazilian-made EMBRAER aircraft.
Just after, the acceleration of the operationalization of the one-stop cross-border post of Mahagi in the province of Ituri on the border with Uganda built and equipped by TRADEMARK AFRICA, but also the construction of the modern cross-border market of Kasindi-Lubiriha in the territory of Beni in North Kivu on the border with Uganda and the one-stop cross-border post of Lufu in Kongo Central on the border with Angola by TRADEMARK AFRICA; These points were at the center of a technical meeting with Allen Sophia Asiimwe, Deputy Director General in charge of programs of this organization which benefits from funding from development partners to increase intra-African trade and Africa's trade with the rest of the world.
In addition to the Mahagi Cross-Border Post, TRADEMARK AFRICA has already built the Ruzizi one-stop cross-border post and the port of Kalundu in South Kivu and will finance the popularization of the Simplified Trade Regime-RECOS and the African Continental Free Trade Zone-ZLECAF.
