TECHNICAL MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2025 IN KINSHASA ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL TRADE ALONG THE LOBITO CORRIDOR WITH POORVA KARKARE, SENIOR POLICY ANALYST AT THE EUROPEAN CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT POLICY MANAGEMENT

The development of regional trade along the Lobito corridor with the promotion of private investments in the agri-food sector, a corridor which connects the regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, north-west Zambia and Angola to regional and global commercial markets via the port of Lobito, this point was at the center of a technical meeting this Wednesday October 1, 2025 between the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya and Poorva Karkare, senior policy analyst at the European Center for Development Policy Management based in the Netherlands and Belgium; and this, in the presence of the Director General of the National Agency for the Promotion of Exports-

During this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Trade reiterated the request of the Congolese Government to accelerate the mobilization of resources within the framework of Global Gateway to launch feasibility studies, and thus move towards concrete action; but also to make the Lobito corridor a program with projects in several areas including infrastructure, energy, transport, agri-food, skills training and industrial corridors

The European Center for Development Policy Management now promises to consolidate advocacy to materialize this project
which offers the country a unique opportunity to become a gateway for international trade by facilitating transport and stimulating investments in the country, said Poorva Karkare.
