LAUNCH THIS MZRDI OCTOBER 7, 2025 IN KINSHASA OF THE MEETING OF THE JOINT TECHNICAL COMMITTEE TO MONITOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TRADE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE DRC AND BURUNDI
Implementation of the trade agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi signed on April 29, 2022 in Kinshasa to facilitate trade between these two neighboring countries,
experts have been meeting since Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in the Congolese capital to make an objective assessment and develop a clear vision, with the support of the Trade Facilitation and Integration Project in the Great Lakes Region-PFCIGL
Giving approval for the work of the joint technical committee to monitor the implementation of this bilateral trade agreement which focuses on the promotion of small cross-border traders,
the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya encouraged the experts to take important decisions which will help accelerate the implementation of this trade agreement which demonstrates the firm commitment of Presidents Félix Tshisekedi and Everiste Ndayishimye to strengthen cooperation between the DRC and Burundi, but also regional integration
For his part, Gérard Niyokindi, Director of Cabinet of the Burundian Minister of Mining, Energy, Industry, Trade and Tourism welcomed the launch on October 30, 2024 in Kavimvira-Gatumba of the Simplified Commercial Regime-RECOS which now grants several facilities to small cross-border traders and populations living along the borders
