Inauguration this Wednesday, October 8, 2025 of an ultramodern and multifunctional laboratory of the Congolese Control Office-OCC in Kalemie in the province of Tanganyika by the Director General of this public establishment, Etienne Tshimanga, representing the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, who upon taking office had promised to provide the Democratic Republic of Congo with 6 certified ultramodern laboratories; objective, to make products made in DRC competitive on the international market and to protect consumers by ensuring the safety and quality of the products
This laboratory which meets international standards,
considered today as the most advanced in the Democratic Republic of Congo, it has 5 specialties including physicochemical analyzes and chemical engineering, agro-food analyses, analyzes of mining products, analyzes of petroleum products and microbiological analyses.
This ultra-modern and multifunctional laboratory will allow the Congolese Control Office-OCC to carry out quality, quantity and conformity checks of all goods, analyzes of all samples and products as well as technical controls of all devices and works in this part of the country.
Note that this ceremony was attended by several authorities and economic operators who welcomed this modernization of the OCC, to properly assess the conformity of imported and exported goods in relation to strict compliance with international and national standards.
After Kalemie, the delegation dispatched by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya headed by the Director General of the OCC is expected in the province of Haut-Katanga where it will proceed to the inauguration of the mining products analysis laboratory of Kasumbalesa and the administrative buildings of Kipushi and Kasenga, but also, chair the official handover ceremony of the accreditation certificate of the mining products analysis laboratory of Lubumbashi by Accreditation Services-SADCA; it is a bet won by the Minister of Foreign Trade who consolidates the implementation of his roadmap.
