STRATEGIC MEETING WITH THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRES OF THE EMBASSY OF UGANDA IN THE DRC ON THE ACCELERATION OF THE ACTUAL RELEASE OF TRANSIT VEHICLES CARRYING FISH ARRESTED BY THE UGANDA AUTHORITIES

Acceleration of effective release of transit vehicles transporting fish arrested by the Ugandan authorities bound for the Democratic Republic of Congo, a commission
joint committee composed of experts from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ugandan Embassy in the DRC has just been set up following the strategic meeting this Tuesday in Kinshasa between the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya and the Chargé d'affaires of the Ugandan Embassy in the DRC, Matata Twaha who recognized the violation of the texts governing transit through his country.

In addition to this commission, a high-level delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Trade will shortly go to Kampala to meet the Ugandan authorities;
objective definitively resolve this issue which negatively impacts economic operators and the population of Kasindi-Lubiriha-Beni-Oicha-Butembo and Lubero

Also, the organization of the DRC-UGANDA Business Forum, the strengthening of the rapprochement of the Ugandan and Congolese chambers of commerce based in the East and the evaluation of the resolutions of the large DRC-UGANDA joint commission as well as the desire of the Ugandan Government to revisit the bilateral agreement signed in 2018 were discussed during this meeting

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Trade reassured his host that the Congolese Government has already launched the process of eliminating toxic taxes and reducing others to thus further strengthen trade.

Regarding the lifting of entry visa already effective on the Ugandan side,
Julien Paluku Kahongya makes it clear to the diplomat Matata Twaha that DRC will comply in a brief manner, because he has just informed his regional integration colleague about this.
