MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: THE RECOVERY COMMISSION OF THE CONGOLESE CONTROL OFFICE-OCC SUBMITTED ITS REPORT THIS MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2026 TO MINISTER JULIEN PALUKU KAHONGYA + MEETING ON PREPARATIONS FOR THE TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR PRODUCERS AND EXPORTERS ON BRITISH STANDARDS
Recovery of the Congolese Control Office-OCC, a scientific and technical organization, the commission set up on February 17, submitted its report this Monday, March 16, 2026 to the Minister of Foreign Trade.
This commission's missions were to draw up an administrative and financial inventory of the OCC, evaluate all contracts and partnership agreements linking the OCC with third parties, audit production and evaluate the mechanisms for controlling quality, quantity and compliance with imports and exports, but also propose to the competent authority all corrective and recovery measures for this public establishment which controls everything that enters and leaves the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Welcoming the quality work carried out by this commission, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, indicates that the General Management of the OCC will be instructed to sign performance contracts with the Directorates and Services, and this, with a timetable,
while adding that short, medium and long term measures will be taken to straighten out the OCC, as this report will be transmitted to the hierarchy.
Furthermore, to make products made in DRC competitive on the British market, producers, exporters, national standardization committee, public technical services including the OCC and regulatory bodies will be trained on international and British standards, from this Monday March 23, 2026 in Kinshasa by experts from the British Standards Institute-BSI, an organization which deals with standardization in the United Kingdom, as part of the partnership with the Congolese Control Office-OCC.
This training, which will focus on good governance, African quality policy, good regulatory practices and good standardization practices, as well as the anti-corruption standard, will be part of supporting the DRC in the development of the quality policy, indicated Volodymyr Yakubov, Director of development of international projects within this British standardization organization; it was during a technical meeting with the Minister of Foreign Trade surrounded by his experts
Note that 99.8% of products made in DRC exported to the United Kingdom are exempt from payment of customs duties, in accordance with the partnership launched last November by these two States.
