MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: LAUNCH OF THE CONGOLESE WEEK OF GOOD GOVERNANCE FOR FAIR ECONOMIC COOPERATION, WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF NORMALIZATION PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND THE DRC

Access to products made in DRC on the British and European market; in short, on global markets, training on good governance in cooperation, good standardization practices, good regulatory practices and African quality policy was launched this Monday, March 23, 2026 in Kinshasa by the Minister of Foreign Trade, and in which experts from the public-private sectors, members of the National Standardization Committee, academics, representatives of consumer associations, producers and exporters take part.
This workshop of the Congolese week of good governance for fair economic cooperation is part of the United Kingdom-Democratic Republic of Congo economic partnership and the standardization partnership between Britsh Standards Institute-BSI, a standardization body in the United Kingdom and the Congolese Control Office-OCC, which has the mission of controlling the quality and conformity of everything that enters and leaves the DRC; aims to make products made in DRC competitive on the African, British and international markets, said Volodymyr Yakubov, Director of Projects at BSI

The Congolese Government, with the support of its partners, is strengthening training on compliance with phytosanitary and sanitary standards and on technical obstacles to trade and the Codex Alimentarius, aiming to take advantage of the United Kingdom-DRC trade partnership launched last November, which allows 99.8% of products made in the DRC to enter the British market without payment of customs duties, but also to flood the world markets with Congolese products, declared the Minister of Foreign Trade Julien Paluku Kahongya

For the Interim Minister of Industry and Minister of Entrepreneurship and SME Development, Justin Kalumba Mwana Ngongo, increasing the volume of exports of products made in DRC requires compliance with national and international standards; hence the time is no longer for theories but rather for concrete actions on the ground.

For its part, the United Kingdom, through its Deputy Ambassador to the DRC, Koto Longfied, reassured that her country will help the DRC to win this bet

Let's say that this Congolese week will last 4 days.
