MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: THE WORK OF CONSULTATIONS ON THE 3RD REVIEW OF THE DRC'S TRADE POLICY INSPECTED THIS WEDNESDAY IN KINSHASA BY MINISTER JULIEN PALUKU KAHONGYA

It is with the aim of reassuring itself of the smooth running of the consultations on the 3rd Review of the Trade Policy of the Democratic Republic of Congo, that the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, inspected this Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Kinshasa this technical work which will make it possible to identify the progress made, the challenges to overcome and the important reforms to consolidate in order to position the DRC as a major player in world trade.

On behalf of the Congolese Government, the Minister of Commerce encouraged experts from all ministries and those of the World Trade Organization-WTO to make an uncompromising diagnosis of the DRC's Trade Policy, objective, to promote the productive capacities of the DRC and its exports with the analysis of customs duties, customs procedures, non-tariff barriers, the assessment of taxes as well as possible subsidies and tax incentives to attract more investments.

Furthermore, as part of the consolidation of economic and commercial cooperation between the DRC and Uganda, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya signed on May 11 at the State House in Entebbe, the memorandums of understanding relating to the establishment of a bilateral framework for the strengthening of Trade and the partnership between the National Agency for the Promotion of Exports-ANAPEX and Uganda Free Zone and Export Promotions Authority - UFZEPA for development, coordination and promotion of trade, it was in front of Presidents Félix Tshisekedi and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
