MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: CLOSURE OF CONSULTATIONS ON THE 3RD REVIEW OF THE DRC’S TRADE POLICY

After 5 days of uncompromising technical work by experts delegated by the public and private sectors, but also by civil society and academia as part of the consultations on the 3rd Trade Policy Review of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Trade Organization-WTO through its experts dispatched to Kinshasa, received all the information on the regulation and promotion of trade in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This 3rd review will play a major role in consolidating transparency and predictability in the DRC's trade policy, which constitutes a showcase for the country throughout the world, said Jules Mwilu Mboo, Chief Expert in international trade at the Ministry of Foreign Trade, while adding that the country-DRC report will be defended on October 28 and 30 in Geneva, Switzerland by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya.

We return to Geneva with a feeling of satisfaction, because the consultations on the 3rd Trade Policy Review of the DRC made it possible to strengthen the dialogue between stakeholders in the presentation of the real image of the DRC in terms of trade, indicated Michael Kolie, Trade Policy Analyst at the WTO.

Closing these consultations on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, the Secretary General for Foreign Trade, Eugène Mangamanga declared that this work made it possible to identify the progress made, the challenges to overcome and the important reforms to consolidate to strengthen the competitiveness of the DRC in world trade.
