MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: VALIDATION OF THE PROTOTYPE OF THE DRC'S COMMERCIAL INFORMATION PORTAL-PIC DURING A TECHNICAL MEETING THIS THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2026 IN KINSHASA
The Democratic Republic of Congo is further consolidating its integration into world trade, and this, in accordance with its commitments to the World Trade Organization-WTO, the prototype of the Commercial Information Portal-PIC of the DRC was validated this Thursday, May 21, 2026 in Kinshasa during a technical meeting chaired by the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Foreign Trade, Benezeth Musafiri Kyakakala, and this, on behalf of Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya; fruit of several months of work carried out by the management team of this strategic tool, with the support of TradeMark Africa, Alerte Internationale and the WTO.
This Commercial Information Portal-PIC will have the role of centralizing and disseminating official and reliable data on Foreign Trade of the Democratic Republic of Congo, by facilitating procedures for import, export and transit of goods, and will serve as a single access point for investors and economic operators seeking to stimulate their activities.
A digital platform which will have a positive impact on transparency and facilitation, by bringing together a single access point to all the rules governing the DRC's Foreign Trade, import and export to reduce administrative obstacles and on international integration with the support of the World Trade Organization-WTO agreements including that on Trade Facilitation-TFA, thus helping the country to integrate more effectively into world trade, as well as on the attraction of investments in providing clear visibility into the business environment, to enable foreign investors to make wise choices and saving time by reducing administrative hurdles and uncertainty by providing reliable information from trusted sources.
Already the first phase of the Commercial Information Portal-PIC integrates 14 strategic products including 9 for export (cocoa, coffee, silver, cobalt, copper, diamond, tin, tea, etc.) and 5 for import (hair, fertilizer, medicines, frozen fish and chicken), thanks to this strategic tool, the comparison of the procedures of the DRC's Foreign Trade chain with those of other WTO member countries will now be at the meeting
Note that the official presentation of the PIC to members of the Government by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, the official launch of its effective operationalization, followed by its popularization among partners and its notification to partners including the WTO, the ZLECAF, etc. constitute the next steps.
