DRC-CANADA COOPERATION: OPENING OF THE DRC-CANADA INTERNATIONAL FORUM THIS FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2026 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF QUÉBEC
It is towards a new economic and commercial narrative as part of strengthening cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada, the DRC-Canada International Forum opened its doors this Friday, May 22, 2026 at the University of Quebec in Outaouais (Gitineau); a conference which sets strategic objectives based on 3 main axes, notably economic partnership by promoting solid bilateral agreements and identifying structuring projects in the sectors of agriculture, technologies and strategic minerals, entrepreneurial development and diplomacy...
From the top of this platform, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, on behalf of the Congolese Government, led a plea articulated around 7 strategic axes to encourage Canadian and diaspora investments in the DRC, namely: geo-administrative realities, the geopolitical position of the DRC in Africa, the deconstruction of the international narrative on the DRC, the dynamics of the DRC's Foreign Trade, priority sectors of investment, reforms of the business climate and the AGOA model (DRC-United States of America), as a lever of inspiration to allow products made in DRC to enter the Canadian market without payment of customs duties.
In accordance with the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo, that of diversifying markets, the Minister of Foreign Trade requested the establishment of a joint commission of experts who will work on structuring economic and commercial agreements between the two countries.
