MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE: CLOSING OF THE DRC-CANADA INTERNATIONAL FORUM IN QUEBEC

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada are committed to strengthening their economic and commercial cooperation through structuring partnerships; a task force made up of experts from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has been set up, with the mission of preparing the future DRC-Canada joint commission; fallout from the DRC-Canada International Forum which closed this Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the University of Quebec
For 2 days, the Congolese Government, through the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, presented to Canadian investors 7 strategic axes aimed at transforming the DRC from a simple exporting country of raw materials to a local processing center, particularly strategic minerals, with the encouragement of Canadian companies to invest in the development of local value chains, agriculture with the valorization of its 80 million hectares of arable land, energy to support industrialization and infrastructure, but also Special Economic Zones and digital and the green economy with the development of the technology sector and decarbonization projects.

Also Kinshasa and Ottawa agreed to facilitate networking and support for the Congolese diaspora in Canada, and consolidate educational and cultural exchanges.

Very proud of the beautiful harvest achieved, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, praised the firm determination of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Canada to materialize the resolutions and recommendations, through a road map which will be put in place shortly.
