MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE DRC-ADB COOPERATION: MINISTER JULIEN PALUKU KAHONGYA MOBILIZES THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK TO FINANCE PRIORITY PROJECTS IN THE DRC
Received this Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the headquarters of the African Development Bank-AfDB in Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire by Salomon Quaynor, Vice-President in charge of the Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization surrounded by sector experts, the Minister of Foreign Trade,
Julien Paluku Kahongya, Personal Representative of the Head of State to the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa's Development-AUDA-NEPAD, mobilized this Continental institution to finance the development of the cocoa sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the construction and digitalization of one-stop border posts in Kasindi, Kasumbalesa and Lufu, the road Kisangani-Beni-Kasindi-Uganda to lead to the port of Mombasa in Kenya thus connecting the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, the Tanzania-Burundi-Kindu railway to open up the center of the DRC and connect it to the Indian Ocean via the port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, the Lobito corridor, as an integrated program, the development of Special Economic Zones along the transport corridors to transform them into industrial development corridors, the urban mobility corridor to streamline transport in Kinshasa, the Kinshasa-Brazzaville road-rail bridge project and the local processing of strategic minerals by joining the major project around the battery and electric vehicle industry which is developing in the Musompo Special Economic Zone based in Lualaba.
Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya also requested the reactivation of AUDA-NEPAD mechanisms with the solicitation of project preparation funds, the Infrastructure development program and the high-speed train initiative
From now on, the permanent dialogue between the Congolese Government and the African Development Bank-ADB will be there to bring these various projects to fruition.
