The Democratic Republic of Congo, which signed the International Cocoa Agreement-ICCO in Abidjan on June 2, 2026, will now benefit from the long Ivorian experience in structuring cooperatives of cocoa producers and in promoting the cocoa sector, but also, these two countries are committed to associating other producers on the continent in order to consolidate Africa's position on the world stage, and this, with the contribution of the diversification of markets.
Fallout from the strategic meeting this Thursday, June 4, 2026 in Abidjan between the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya and the Ivorian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production, Bruno Nabagné Koné.
The materialization of this vision requires government synergy which involves sectoral ministries including Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy, Industry, Finance, National Economy and Foreign Trade, which has kept Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya waiting.
Note that during this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Trade officially informed the Ivorian Government of the DRC's accession to the International Cocoa Agreement-ICCO.
