95TH MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS HELD AT KANIAMA KASESE IN UPPER LOMAMI: ZERO TOLERANCE AT KASUMBALESA BORDER POST: THE PRESIDENT OF THE WHISTLES THE END OF RECESS

Informing the Council of Ministers of irregular practices including the Bamba roho and Bilanga phenomena which are suffocating the Congolese economy and weakening the governance of trade flows
at the Kasumbalesa border post in the province of Haut-Katanga, on the border with Zambia, the Minister of Foreign Trade insisted on the absolute determination of the Government to take absolute ownership of the measures to clean up this border, because it is a strong political commitment to restore the authority of the State and sustainably clean up the business climate.

To put an end to these illicit practices which are bleeding the public treasury, the President of the Republic gave firm instructions to the sectoral Ministers of National Defense, Interior, Security, Decentralization and Seamless Affairs, Justice, Finance and Foreign Trade, in order to immediately restore strict order at border posts across the Republic.
To this end, a solemn and severe reclassification is addressed to all State agents and civil servants complicit in these fraudulent networks, because disciplinary and legal sanctions will be applied with the greatest rigor to definitively eradicate these anti-values.

In this process, the Governor of Haut-Katanga is directly called upon to be fully involved in his capacity as representative of central power, in order to support, execute and rigorously enforce all the sanitation measures adopted during this 95th meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Let us recall this approach follows the official mission carried out recently in the province of Haut-Katanga by the Minister of Foreign Trade and his colleague from Entrepreneurship and SMEs, ensuring the interim of the industry, and this, with a descent to the Kasumbalesa border post.
