Cocoa: the new International Agreement will enter into force on October 1, 2026

The Council of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) has set October 1, 2026 for the definitive entry into force of the new International Cocoa Agreement, formalized on Tuesday September 15 in Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire, this decision opens a new stage in international cooperation around the cocoa sector, because this agreement places people and the viability of markets at the center of its economic and environmental priorities, and this, with the regulation of world cocoa prices, the guarantee of a decent income for producers, the promotion of local processing, the fight against deforestation, the strengthening of traceability and resilient agricultural practices.
The entry into force of this International Cocoa Agreement on October 13 will be a breath of relief for local producers in the Democratic Republic of Congo and will motivate the improvement of governance of the cocoa sector with the development of value chains, said Jonathan Kasereka Kyakwa, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of Foreign Trade, at the head of the Congolese delegation which is taking an active part in the work of the 14th session of the World Organization. du Cacao, which draws its curtains this Friday September 18, 2026 in Abidjan in Ivory Coast
