MINISTRY OF FOREIGN TRADE INTERNATIONAL COCOA ORGANIZATION-ICCO: DRC TAKES VICE-PRESIDENCY OF ECONOMIC COMMITTEE

Regulation of world cocoa prices, the Democratic Republic of Congo now takes the vice-presidency of the economic committee of the International Cocoa Organization-ICCO and the International Cocoa Agreement comes into force on October 1st; two major decisions taken during the 114th ordinary session of the ICCO which draws its curtains this Friday, September 18, 2026 in Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire.

Welcoming these important decisions, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, on behalf of the Congolese Government, declared that nothing more will be done without the participation of the DRC which further consolidates the construction of its soft power, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi.

Note that the International Cocoa Agreement places people and market viability at the center of its economic and environmental priorities with support for local producers, promotion of local processing, market and price transparency, strengthening traceability and the fight against deforestation.
