CLOSING OF THE DRC-CHINA ECONOMIC FORUM IN BEIJING: THE OUTCOMES
The signing of the Framework Partnership Agreement between the Congolese Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya and the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao,
the development of a Chinese Special Economic Zone in the Democratic Republic of Congo to substitute imports and satisfy the Congolese and regional market, the modernization of the Congolese agricultural sector with the introduction of applied research and seed production technology with a view to significantly limiting imports in the agri-food sector, the definition of financing models straddling the resources of the Public Treasury, Technical and Financial Partners as well as the Public Private-PPP Partnership and collaboration agreements as well as the signing of other memoranda of understanding in several areas including Transport, Electricity, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Digital and Hydrocarbons and others which will be signed in the hours that follow; these are the results of the first economic forum. Democratic Republic of Congo-People's Republic of China closed yesterday in Beijin by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Transport, Communication Routes and Opening Up, Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo.
In front of the press, the Congolese Minister of Foreign Trade said that these benefits are the fruits of a real commercial and economic diplomacy led by the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, more than determined to develop the DRC and to add that the time has now come to work to materialize all these projects, because a joint commission made up of Congolese and Chinese experts has been set up in this regard.
Note that before the closing of this major business meeting which brought together more than 300 CEOs of Chinese and Congolese companies, the Minister of Foreign Trade insisted on the advantages of the increase in the volume of trade between the DRC and China, because his country is focusing more on coffee, cocoa, avocado, palm oil and soya in addition to minerals, he concluded.
Furthermore, the 9th edition of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum was kicked off this morning by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Several African Heads of State including the Congolese, Félix Tshisekedi are taking part in this economic forum.
