RELEASE OF TRANSIT VEHICLES STOPPED BY UGANDA AUTHORITIES DESTINATION FOR THE DRC AT THE CENTER OF A MEETING THIS TUESDAY IN ZANZIBAR BETWEEN THE FOREIGN TRADE MINISTERS OF THESE TWO NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

It’s a breath of relief for economic operators and the population of Beni-Butembo-
Lubero, transit vehicles destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo stopped by the Ugandan authorities will be released.

The Ugandan Government, through its Minister of Foreign Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Francis Mwebesa, has just agreed to urgently release these vehicles, some of which transport fish.

This is the fruit of the commercial diplomacy carried out vigorously by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya on the sidelines of the 14th meeting of the Council of Foreign Trade Ministers of the ZLECAF in Zanzibar in the United Republic of Tanzania where he spoke with his Ugandan colleague who regretted the violation of the texts governing transit through his country.

As soon as I arrive, this situation will be resolved urgently, because Uganda is obliged to respect the regulations related to Foreign Trade added the Ugandan Minister.

On behalf of the Congolese Government, Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya praised the promptness with which his colleague reacted to the request from the Democratic Republic of Congo
while asking the Congolese customs authorities to respect the rules governing transit.

Note that the arrival of these vehicles will contribute to the fall in the prices of fish and other goods which were already scarce on the markets in Beni-Oicha-
