DRC: TIN UP 0.80% ON INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

The price of a ton of tin, a merchant mining product from the Democratic Republic of Congo, recorded an increase of 0.80% on international markets, trading at USD 32,539.00 the week of June 23 to 28, 2025, compared to USD 32,282.00 the previous week. This information is contained in a press release from the national mercurial commission of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, consulted Tuesday by the Congolese Press Agency (ACP).
According to the same source, in addition to tin, two other commercial mining products are also on the rise on international markets: gold and silver. Their prices stood at USD 109.12 and USD 1.19 per gram respectively during the week under review, compared to USD 108.29 and USD 1.17 per gram the previous week.
On the other hand, three products experienced a drop in price during the same period: copper, cobalt and zinc. They traded at USD 9,766.75, USD 32,646 and USD 2,604.90 per tonne respectively, compared to USD 9,812.00, USD 32,791 and USD 2,629.20 per tonne the previous week.

Furthermore, only one product remained stable on international markets during the week in question: tantalum, whose price remained at USD 227.00 per kilogram, the same level as that recorded in the week of June 16 to 21, 2025.
The source emphasizes that price fluctuations – increases, decreases or stability – observed on commercial mining, agricultural and forestry products, are mainly linked to supply, global demand as well as the situation of the supply chain.
It should be noted that in the Democratic Republic of Congo, tin is mainly produced in the province of North Kivu, particularly in the territory of Walikale where the Bisie industrial mine is located. Haut-Katanga is also among the producing provinces, thanks to significant artisanal production. In addition, the province of Maniema is recognized for its deposits, particularly in Kalima.
