FOREIGN TRADE: Import on your own account via a digital platform
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the High Commission for Digitalization signed a cooperation agreement in Algiers to prepare for the launch of a digital platform dedicated to economic operators active in importing on their own account, during the current month. Indeed, the cooperation agreement provides for the organization of the operation of providing and operating “cloud computing” of the State at the level of the Algerian National Center for Digital Services, with the aim of hosting this platform which will allow economic operators, across all wilayas, to record the needs of their factories and companies, in terms of management and equipment, easily and from their homes, without the need to travel between different administrations. Speaking during his signing of the agreement, with the High Commissioner for Digitization with the rank of Minister, Ms. Meriem Benmouloud, in the presence of relevant executives, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Mr. Kamel Rezig, affirmed that “the exploitation of this digital platform will save time and effort, reduce administrative complications and strengthen the speed and efficiency of processing requests.” Adding that, “the agreement is part of modern and transparent management and reflects the State's commitment to strengthening the digital transition and modernizing public management tools, in application of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in particular within the framework of his commitment n25 relating to the improvement of communication and the generalization of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), in public service administrations”.
A platform that encompasses different
According to the explanations provided on this occasion, “this digital platform will bring together all the ministerial sectors concerned, in addition to the main national authorities such as customs and banks, with a view to ensuring complete coordination and careful monitoring of all stages of the import operation, which is able to guarantee speed in completion, prohibit bureaucratic practices and preserve the interests of operators. Note that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion was the first public administration to benefit from “Cloud computing” services, pending their generalization to other sectors. Mr. Rezig underlined, to this end, that “digitalization now represents the cornerstone of reform of the foreign trade sector, given the tools it offers for control, analysis, forecasting and improvement of decision-making efficiency”.
Creation of the first national data center
For her part, Ms. Benmouloud explained that “cloud computing services, offered to state institutions as part of a first experience in Algeria, were set up to facilitate tasks and accelerate their completion.” The latter added that, “the High Commission for Digitalization is working to create the first national data center, which will offer ministerial departments a technical environment made up of different digital needs, in particular digital platforms and solutions such as development, storage, networking and cybersecurity, allowing the development, exploitation and processing of data.” Stressing that, “all digital platforms linked to foreign trade will soon be hosted at the Algerian National Center for Digital Services (Data Center), under the supervision of the High Commission for Digitalization, thus guaranteeing the unification of services and the improvement of their efficiency and quality,” she concluded.
