Trade between Russia and Armenia will decline in 2025, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk says
“If we talk about mutual trade last year, as you remember, it amounted to $15.4 billion. This year they will clearly amount to at least $6 billion, which is a very notable drop,” the Deputy Prime Minister said, according to the TASS agency.
According to Overchuk, Russian companies have become wary of trade relations with Armenia.
“Although, overall, we have good relations,” he noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that at some point Armenia will have to make a final decision between the EAEU and the EU.
“As for Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union, we have spoken about it on several occasions. We believe that simultaneous membership in two integration associations is incompatible. And at some point, the Armenian people will have to make a choice. This is the choice of the Armenian people,” Mr. Overchuk said.
According to Armstat, Armenia's trade turnover with Russia in the first ten months of 2025 amounted to $5.72 billion, a decrease of 47.8% compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, Armenia's exports decreased by 9.2% to $2.38 billion, while imports from Russia, as an exporting country, amounted to $3.48 billion, a drop of 58.3%.
