JOURNÉE DE MEMOIRE DE BUNAGANA A UVIRA : RÉSISTANCE- RESILIENCE- UNITÉ
JULIEN PALUKU KAHONGYA, PANELIST THE CONFERENCE-MEMORY AGAINST FORGETTING: HUMANITARIAN DRAMA, ECONOMIC ISSUES, JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS AND RESTORATION OF TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY ORGANIZED THIS TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2026 IN KINSHASA BY THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA.
Panelist of the Conference-Memory against oblivion: Humanitarian drama, Economic issues, Justice for victims and Restoration of territorial integrity, organized this Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in Kinshasa by the Ministry of Communication and Media, developing the theme "Economic consequences of war and occupation"; the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, Former Governor of North Kivu for 12 years, declared before the Prime Minister, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, members of the Government, parliamentarians, students, journalists and actors of civil society, that the recurring wars with Rwandan aggression and the massacres of civilians in the East of the DRC aim to destroy Congolese human capital with thousands of displaced people and the economic fabric with the systematic pillaging of minerals and agricultural products, but also the environmental and tourist fabric, thus creating an economy of dependence to the detriment of the Congolese economy
During this period of occupation of areas in the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu, the volume of mineral exports increased from 70 million US dollars to 2 billion US dollars in Rwanda, which does not have mining deposits, hence the real FDLR that it is pursuing in the DRC are Congolese minerals and other natural resources, he insisted.
On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Former Governor of North Kivu took the risk of asserting that this war of Rwandan aggression will be the last in the East of the DRC, because the diplomatic approach under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi is cutting all the branches on which Rwanda relied, and this, with the contribution of the strategic agreement signed recently in Washington between the DRC and the United States of America and the systematic cleansing of the once infiltrated security apparatus.
