BANANA PORT: THE FUTURE LOGISTICS HUB OF THE DRC IS BEING SHARED IN DUBAI Dubai February 4, 2026
On the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, strategic discussions took place with SULTAN AHMED BIN SULAYEM, CEO of DP World, confirming a major acceleration for the DRC's first deep water port.
1. What to remember from the meeting:
●Impending delivery: The first phase of the 300 meter quay out of the 600 planned will be completed by December 2026.
●Economic boost: Drastic reduction in logistics costs, making “Made in DRC” products more competitive for export and lowering the price of imports.
2. The challenge for economic operators: It is now crucial for Congolese entrepreneurs to:
●Anticipate the increase in commercial flow expected from the opening.
●Build a robust logistics ecosystem (warehouses, road transport, services) around the port.
●Sharpen their competitiveness to benefit from this direct connection with global markets.
The Port of Banana is no longer a project, it is a reality under construction which confirms the choice of the DRC's strategic partners.
Beyond what already exists, tens of thousands of jobs are expected in the coming months to meet one of the commitments of H.E Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI, Head of State: THE CREATION OF SECURE JOBS.
