DRC–Türkiye: trade targeted at $500 million thanks to a strengthened partnership
Estimated at nearly 200 million dollars, trade between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Turkiye could increase in the coming years, against a backdrop of rapprochement between the two countries.
Following a meeting held on April 18, 2026 between Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the two leaders demonstrated their desire to strengthen their strategic partnership. The announced objective is to increase, in the medium term, the volume of bilateral trade to 500 million dollars.
Held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, discussions between official delegations made it possible to identify several priority areas of cooperation, particularly in the economic, commercial and institutional fields.
Among the measures announced is the relaunch of the DRC–Türkiye joint commission. Scheduled for Kinshasa later this year, this bilateral body should play a central role in coordinating joint projects and monitoring their implementation, while facilitating exchanges of expertise and investments.
This dynamic builds on achievements already underway. Cooperation between the two countries has notably enabled the construction of the Kinshasa Financial Center, a complex worth around $290 million inaugurated in December 2023, as well as that of the Kinshasa Arena.
Furthermore, Turkish investors are involved in several structuring projects in the Tshuapa province. These include road infrastructure, airports in Boende, Bokungu and Ikela, as well as solar energy initiatives, according to announcements made between 2025 and 2026.
