STRATEGIC MEETING WITH TWO US UNDER SECRETARIES ON STRENGTHENING TRADE COOPERATION AND PREPARATIONS FOR THE AGOA 2025 FORUM IN KINSHASA

This Wednesday in Kinshasa with the Deputy Under Secretary of State, Joy Basu and the Deputy Under Secretary of State in the Bureau of African Affairs, East Asia and the Pacific, Mark Lambert accompanied by the American Ambassador accredited to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lucy Tamlyn; The Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, on behalf of the Congolese State, reassured the American Government that the Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing accordingly for the success of the AGOA-2025 Forum next July in Kinshasa, but also to further consolidate commercial and economic cooperation with the United States of America.

During this strategic meeting with this delegation dispatched by the American Government, the Minister of Foreign Trade, selling the opportunities offered by the DRC, gave details on the OGOA-DRC Strategy with 26 priority sectors including 21 non-mining and 5 mining set up by the Congolese Government and the status of preparations for the AGOA-2025 Forum expected in Kinshasa.

For Julien Paluku Kahongya, this visit augurs the massive arrival of American investors in the DRC to do a win-win business by also joining the major project of the battery and electric vehicle industry which will change the economies of African countries, he added.

On the American side, its Deputy Under Secretary of State, Joy Basu reassured that the Biden administration will now mobilize investors by selling the good image of the DRC and the opportunities it offers to the world

Note that the support of the United States of America in the construction of the Lobito corridor was welcomed by the DRC
