-PROGRESS OF THE WORK OF THE GLOBAL GATEWAY DRC-EU TASK FORCE

-HELD OF THE 46TH FICKIN FAIR EDITION FROM DECEMBER 21, 2024 TO JANUARY 20, 2025

Consolidating strategies so that the Democratic Republic of Congo can capture a large part of the 150 billion euros made available by the European Union for African countries, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Julien Paluku Kahongya, Coordinator of the Global Gateway Task Force, presented the information note on this subject to the last Council of Ministers.

To date, several works have been carried out including the production of a document summarizing the obstacles to investment in the DRC and the related solution proposals, the identification of a first batch of existing projects with feasibility studies carried out or in progress, deemed bankable, integrative and with potential for social impact,
economic and high development, classified according to the priorities of Global Gateway explained the Minister of Foreign Trade.
The identification of projects continues, from which all Ministers have been asked to communicate the projects available at their level and falling within the priority areas of Global Gateway, then will follow an in-depth analysis of the projects and a classification in order of priority for submission to the European Union after approval by the Ministerial Committee via ECOFIRE.

A meeting of the Ministerial Committee is planned in the coming days to examine this work of the experts and decide on the next steps, indicates the report of the Council of Ministers.

The second information note concerned the holding of the 46th fairground edition of the International Fair of Congo Kinshasa-FICKIN from December 21, 2024 to January 20, 2025 under the theme "Fair for the promotion of trade for the diversification of the national economy"

This 46th fairground edition aims to promote trade at the continental level as well as the obvious effort that the Government is making to enable national economic operators to benefit from the advantages of new foreign markets available to the DRC, notably the AGOA initiative, the Chinese and European market, and the African Continental Free Trade Area-ZLECAF.

The Minister of Commerce asked Members of the Government to instruct Companies and Structures under their supervision to subscribe massively to this fairground edition for the national interest.

Julien Paluku Kahongya reassured that he is resolutely committed, with the Management Committee, to relaunching FICKIN by giving it a new face consisting of the reconstruction and modernization of its infrastructure
